Padel Player Levels
Level 1: Beginner
ELO Rating: 0.0 – 2.0
Brand new to racket sports; still adjusting to court dimensions and rules.
Learning how to properly contact the ball and execute a legal serve.
Rallies are minimal, rarely lasting beyond 2 or 3 consecutive shots.
Sustains short, slow-paced rallies only when the ball travels directly toward them.
Understands basic court movement (e.g. advancing to net after serving), but transitions are reactive.
Rebounds off the back glass feel highly unpredictable; most points end on unforced errors.
Level 2: Improver
ELO Rating: 2.0 – 3.0
Hits consistent, flat forehands and backhands when receiving low or gentle paces.
Serves are safe and reliable; capable of hitting a basic, defensive lob.
Beginning to let balls pass to play off the back wall, though timing remains inconsistent.
Gaining confidence dealing with medium-paced balls and coordinated partner positioning.
Able to hit foundational volleys at the net when balanced.
Intentionally utilizes lobs to reset the pace of points, though control and depth vary.
Level 3: Intermediate
ELO Rating: 3.0 – 3.5
Comfortably and predictably handles rebounds off both the side and back glass.
Actively incorporates slice into volleys and baseline groundstrokes.
Prioritizes winning and holding the net; constructs points tactically instead of hunting instant winners.
Level 4: Advanced Intermediate
ELO Rating: 3.5 – 4.0
Executes clear tactical intent, successfully identifying and targeting gaps in opponent positioning.
Varies the pace of play and confidently defends complex, multi-wall angles.
Unforced errors drop heavily; reliable utilization of attacking overheads (Bandeja / Víbora).
Level 5: Advanced
ELO Rating: 4.0 – 4.5
Possesses offensive weapons from both sides; controls slice and topspin fluidly.
Consistently places high-pace balls deep into corners and minimizes errors under pressure.
Seamlessly coordinates court-switching and coverage adjustments with partner mid-point.
